Lash Extension FAQs
How Do Lash Extensions Work?
Let’s start from the top: As a Licensed Lash Specialist I will have a chat with you about what you’re looking for. Depending on the type of style and finish you’re after, I will either recommend individual lashes (where one single extension is attached to each lash), or cluster lashes (where multiple lashes are attached to each lash), what is the most healthy for your natural lashes. I also consult you on the best lashes shape and sizes of lash extensions based off the shape of your eyes.
Generally, individual lashes look more natural, and cluster lashes create lots of volume and thickness.
Once you’ve settled on the type of look that will work for you, I will clean and prepare your lashes for the treatment. Next, a sticky backed rubber pad will be placed beneath each eye to cover your bottom.
The process of applying each lash is entirely painless – in fact, you can’t feel anything at all. At times the glue can smell slightly strange, but don’t fret, it never goes near your eyes. Each extension is attached onto the base of your lash, not your eyelid as some people assume.
How Long Does It Take?
It completely depends on what type of Lash Extensions we decide will work for you. Classic Set, Hybrid Set, Volume Set, Mega Volume Set. Typically 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
How Long Do Lash Extensions Last?
Aftercare is key, if you don’t follow it your lashes will start to shed really quickly – if you do, you can expect them to stay put for about 2-3 weeks.
It’s imperative to keep them dry (this includes no steam or sweat) For at least 24 hours. After that, you need to avoid using any products that contain oil, as it will loosen then glue and make your lashes extensions fall out.
No matter how tempted you are: Do. Not. Pick. This will be especially hard when they start to come off, as they go through an annoying, half-attached stage. But by picking and pulling you’ll end up plucking out your natural lashes, too, so unless you’re cool with naked mole rat eyes, just don’t do it.
You should also be entrusted with a small spoolie brush. Use this to gently comb through your lashes when you wake up and to fluff them up whenever they start to get stuck together.
Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash. As a Licensed lash artist. I will apply to only one natural lash, and will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the integrity of your natural lash. Eyelash extensions can be damaging if your lash artist is not using proper techniques. Lashes that are too heavy, or clusters (pre-made fans) have a larger amount of adhesive and can cause your natural lash to break. When selecting your lash artist, ask which techniques if they only certified or have a Licensed. This will aid in maintaining healthy natural lashes and enjoying the benefits of extensions.
Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?
Wake up with gorgeous lashes every day, no mascara required! However, it is recommended to use an oil free mascara that is extension safe. This will make it so your mascara does not interfere with the bond of the eyelash extension adhesive or cause early separation.
What exactly are lash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic lash strands that are applied to your own individual top lashes one at a time. When applied properly and safely, the lashes will look thicker, darker, and longer than your own natural lashes. This means you can forego mascara daily!
What if my new lash extensions look terrible on me?
Well, first of all that’s not actually happened before. But, if for any reason, you don’t prefer you new lashes, I’d remove them for you for no charge. Absolutely. However, I could not give a refund since I’ve already performed the service.
What if I have really sensitive eyes or really oily eyelids?
Sometimes clients exhibit certain characteristics which means they are not the best candidate to receive or keep eyelash extensions. One thing we’re happy to do at Country Posh Beauty is to perform a sample application a sort of “patch test” for no charge! Yep, if you think you may be one of these unlucy clients, just let me know and I will test to see how they fair on you. When we do the test, I will apply a few lashes on each corner of your eyes and you’ll go home like that. If you have no adverse reactions after 24-48 hours we can move forward to apply the whole set in your next appointment.
Can I wear make-up with my eyelash extensions?
You most definitely can wear make-up with your eyelash extensions. When selecting makeup, it is beneficial to go with extension safe make-up. Extension safe makeup is oil free, usually contains sealers to prolong extension life and helps to work adjacent with your extensions for an optimal look.
How much do eyelash extensions cost?
From $175 to $325 depending on type of eyelash extensions you get.
